Traveling to SAN FRAN w/a 5 month old....Yikes!!!

My husband was just notified yesterday that he needs to go to San Francisco at the end of January for a week. Jema will be almost 5 months old by then, and the thought of being home with her for a whole week scares me! But since my Birthday is in late January my hubby has suggested that Jema and I go with him and while he is at his training during the day that we can hang out and check out the city. This also scares me, 1.Time Change with a baby.... yes, scary 2.Plane ride with a 5 month old(Plenty of people do it, I know) 3.Not having an indisposable income to entertain myself for 5 days in a super cool city like san fran.
So I'm seeking the help of our readers to pass along any travel tips or suggestions, and would love it if any of you could suggest some fun things to do while visiting San Fran. You don't have to be a parent to comment...I just need some ideas to help me decide whether or not to go, seeing how we have to buy the tickets in the next few days :D
Thank You!!!!!

  1. Definitely go!! Jema will be fine! We went to Kansas when Aidan was about 4 1/2 months old... I nursed him on the plane and he slept for a good portion of the flight. Just bring some of her favorite things, blankey, binky, books... I think it will be fun and you guys will have a great time!

  2. Since you're nursing she should be fine. Make sure you nurse her during take off and like Madeline said, she will probably sleep most of the flight.

  3. Well, I'm nervous to take my baby on a plane too, so I'm the wrong person to ask about that! However I will say, having been to San Francisco before, there is so much to do that doesn't cost a lot. You definitely would not be bored or disappointed if you went...that I am sure about! When I visited I found the public transportation to be a great way to get around. And buy a guide book so you can look up places that are kid-friendly!
